Orcas (or Killer Whales) are residents in our local Pacific Ocean Waters around Victoria and Vancouver Island. Whale sightings are particularly spectacular in May, June, July, August and September. We often encounter other large whales as well such as Minke, Humpback and Grey Whales. These enormous mammals make their lengthy migration to the fertile feeding grounds of Alaska.

Spotting networks are important. We pride ourselves on our sophisticated international spotting network, which ensures the highest whale sighting percentages possible. Killer, or Orca Whales were seen on approximately 97% of our excursions last season, the best on Vancouver Island!

Built in the early 1900's, on the site of the initial settlement of Fort Victoria, our office provides check in surrounded by the ambience of brick and mortar a century old. Steeped in history, Wharf Street is world renowned as Victoria’s most picturesque street. Look for the awnings on 1207 Wharf Street at Bastion Square (on the sunny east side Wharf Street, between Yates and Fort Streets) - the SpringTide Office is a convenient check-in facility affording comfortable seating for trip preparation, washroom facility and complimentary warm beverages. Come early if you like – we have lots of interesting reading material and trained knowledgeable staff to add to your experience. The Whale Watch Operator's Association Northwest is an international group of companies dedicated to responsible wildlife viewing. With the help of marine biologists and researchers, we have developed a set of guidelines for operating vessels around the Orcas and other wildlife, for both commercial and recreational boaters. Respecting the wildlife and following these guidelines will help ensure the safety and happiness of the whales for generations to come.
