Forbidden Plateau Bed and Breakfast
This is the place to be if you want to get away from it all in the quiet, peaceful country and still only be an eight minute drive from Courtenay on central Vancouver Island. Our home is set amongst towering cedars on five acres of farm land at the base of Forbidden Plateau Mountain. Wake to the pastoral sound of a rooster crowing or frogs croaking in the pond. Drive out wonderful country roads through farm lands and forests and over sparkling rivers to our country retreat.
The towns of Comox and Cumberland are part of the Comox Valley and are 15 to 20 minutes drive away.
The Forbidden Plateau area is the southern gateway to the internationally famous Stathcona Park and is only a 10 minute drive away.
The start of the Mount Washington Highway is only 6 minutes from our home. A newly paved road takes you to fantastic skiing in the winter and wonderful hiking in Strathcona Park in the summer through alpine meadows and by shimmering lakes .
Behind our property there is a 350 acre forest reserve with miles of trails leading from our place to the Puntledge River and beautiful Nymph Falls Park. The trails have recently been extended right up to Comox Lake. If you feel like a dip, there are some of the nicest swimming holes in the Comox Valley.
The Puntledge Fish Hatchery is nearby where you can see salmon being raised. They welcome visitors.
Relax in our gazebo amid the trees at the back of our property. It is a wonderfully private place to picnic, read a book, share a glass of wine or just commune with nature.
For the birdwatcher, we have many varieties, including robins, stellar jays, woodpeckers, pine siskins, eagles, Oregon junkos, varied thrushes and in season, hummingbirds.
